[geeky] tsom bridget book

Mm.

So. The possibility of a move to a certain Red State has moved from 'definite maybe' to 'seriously possibly maybe'.

It's seriously possible enough, apparently, that my mum has begun boxing things up and angsting about painting the walls so we can sell the house. O_O

By this time next month, I could be living in Tennessee.

*twitch*

*twitchtwitch*

*nabs all of her Canadian posessions, bundles them up, and uses them as a shield against Americanism*

*twitch*

Eheh.

Comments

why when i saw Red State did i think of Russia?
because...red is generally a rather derogatory political term for communist Russia?

I actually meant a conservative/republican Bush-voting state.
BAh, Tennessee has lots of good things! Like horses!

No wait, that's Kentucky...

Well, they got--

...

...

They--

...

I got nothin'.
Country music!
They have my 'Ringer cousins, my nifty aunt and uncle who are begging us to come and stay in their gorgeous 10 000 square foot house for free, and, temporarily, they also have [info]nenya_kanadka, whom I miss terribly. They also have warm weather, a much more intelligent school curriculum (at least theoretically), and schools that will accept my dad's American-based teaching certificate and allow him to legally teach (something which Canada, oddly enough, doesn't have).

Other than that, they haven't got much.

It's not my first choice of place to move to, but frell, it's infinitely better than staying here.
Is this a good or bad thing? *genuinely curious*
95% a good thing. Really. It just takes some time to adjust to the idea. At the moment, it's a really weird concept--I suppose subconsciously I assumed I'd be living in Canada all my life, and the idea of moving to a place where ten degrees celcius is unbearably freezing cold and there's a strange new concept called a 'dollar bill' is rather jarring.

Really, though, I'm looking forward to it. It's just difficult to comprehend.
Will you be going to Nashville? If so, than you will be able to stalk minor Christian Celebrities!@!!!!
Ooh, that's right... Word Music is headquartered in Nashville, as is StarSong (the label Twila Paris is on). And Sparrow Records is in Brentwood, TN. [Yes, I did just look. :P]
There are quite a few Christian publishers in the Nashville area, too. Friend of mine just went to work for one as an editor.
You also wouldn't be terribly far from Branson, where there's a Passion play... oh, and Yakov Smirnoff, too.
It's not all bad in the USA..
I know, I know. It's just not my homeland. You understand. :)
We're not all bad down here. Some of us aren't materialistic and see the wisdom in being aware of what's going on beyond our borders and don't take the media as gospel and didn't vote for Shrub. Just too many. *deep sigh* Why would you be moving to Tennessee?
I know, I know. But, to grossly overparaphrase John Cleese, the people described make up about 2.5% of the population (except maybe the non-Shrubbers, of whom there are a good deal more). *sigh*

I'd be moving for a number of reasons, not least because my dad is severely vocationally frustrated because Canada doesn't like his teacher's certificate, so he ends up working four or five smaller jobs to make up for what he could be making at one job in the US. As it is, he works eighteen-hour days and is never home, and when he is he is exhausted and grumpy. And if that weren't enough, this August the Distance Education place he's worked at for ten years has suddenly decided that he needs a teacher's certificate to work there as well, so they gave him a nice plaque and said "have a nice life."

Also, my aunt and uncle want us to come live in their huge, gorgeous house for free, which is always a plus. ^_^;
why did i know nothing about this?
erm...i have no idea? I think we're not supposed to be spreading it around at this point (oops!) because we don't know if we're going to do it, and I guess we didn't want to tell you until we'd decided.

Um. I don't know. You'd have to ask your dear pater.
Uhm...you'll be closer to me?

Seriously, though, Virginia is better. I think. Do they have incredibly retarded drivers in Tennesee?
I think there are incredibly retarded drivers everywhere
Wow...Well congratulations on the move ^__^ I hope this means new and good beginnings for you and your family though I will miss you and Nen being on our side of the border (you both are the only CDN's I know on LJ that live in Canada!) *sobs*

So uh when you guys move and all be sure to keep us updated and don't forget to post often!!! *clings and wraps you in Canadian flag so you won't forget your roots ;P*
Eeh! We don't even know if we're going yet....

*clings* I'll post as often as I can, although ATM I am (theoretically) out at camp, so I can't be online much. (I had to come back into town for a dentist appointment--I drove, hee!)

Greetings

Hello, I changed my account. I was known of [info]lady_took. If you still want me in your Friends list, leave a comment to my F/O entry.

Thank you.

Re: Greetings

^_^ Right-o.

*runs off to do so*
Eek! Well, as long as you live near a big city, you should be okay. After all, Jeff Buckley lived in Memphis for a while!
I'd be in Kingsport, which (to the best of my understanding) is a fairly big city in a tri-city area in the northeast of Tennessee. So it shouldn't be too bad.

(...especially considering that where I am now is barely considered a city at 17 000 people, and yet it's the biggest village in Northern BC....)

Hello!

Please read my journal. I find your journal very interesting. I am starting a community soon for survivors of trauma. Or advocates who are friends of those who have survivied. I'm putting the word out. I hope you and your freinds come see.

Hi. :)

Hm. Well, my journal isn't all that fascinating, but if you wish to read it you're certainly welcome. May I ask how you found my journal?

I may visit your community at some point--I certainly have many friends who are survivors of trauma, although I don't have many horror stories of my own. :)
